#BigHeartsAndBackpacks3 featuring “The Little Donuts”

I hope you’re ready to transport back into the 1980’s with the Northwest’s premiere all-Filipino Hall & Oates cover band “The Little Donuts” at Pono Ranch! We’ve been prepping our vocal chords and practicing an advanced pre-show stretch routine to ready our bodies, minds, and souls for this blast from the past!

The show is now just TWO short weeks away… 80’s costumes strongly encouraged.

We suggest you prepare accordingly by listening to as much Hall & Oates as humanly-possible leading up The Little Donuts’ performance on August 27th.

SAVE THE DATE! #BH&BP3 Coming August 27!

You read that right, SAVE THE DATE!

Thursday, August 27th @ the Pono Ranch in Ballard: The Soldiers of Destiny Scooter Club Present: Big Hearts & Backpacks 3 to benefit the children of Safe Place in Everett, WA.

The third installment of #BigHeartsAndBackpacks3 will bring us to the shores of Ballard in Seattle for an evening of music, jokes, magic, slip-n-slides (not really), and high-fives with Seattle’s token idiots! As for the nitty gritty details, we’re keeping those a surprise until we deem it necessary for the babysitters to secure new door locks and soundproof their windows.

It’s gonna be loud, funny, and most of all – philanthropic in its most obnoxiously-fun form. Be there for a good cause, and bring your friends!

We’re sure the English language has a better, more appropriate word to describe how overwhelmed we collectively feel right now, but we’re not smart enough to find it in a thesaurus. So many thank you’s are in order from our event Tuesday at The Beer Authority to Wednesday at Chuck’s Hop Shop that we don’t know where to begin, so we’ll just keep it simple.

From the bottom of our animal-helmet-wearing hearts: THANK YOU.

A Lucky Raffle Prize Winner

Specifically to those who participated, donated, attended, or even told a friend about #BigHeartsAndBackpacks – you made a difference. Thank you, thank you, and thank you again. Together we were able to raise thousands of dollars between donations & beer sales, and we collected in excess of 100 new children’s backpacks for the kids of Safe Place. To Burc from The Beer Authority and Chuck from Chuck’s Hop Shop: you’re both extraordinary gentlemen and deserve an award for putting up with us. Thank you. Beers are on us next time. Speaking of beer…

Thank you to the incredible breweries who donated their delicious suds for all to enjoy! Without them we would have been left penniless and very, very thirsty.

Thank you to the local business who donated prizes for our raffle! Please support them when you can.

Most importantly: YOU. Whether or not you were able to participate at all, thank you. Just by reading this you have now been made aware of Safe Place and that in itself is enough for us.

Last but certainly not least — Alice, Tom, and Ellie from Safe Place. Without these folks, there is no Safe Place. The difference they make in children’s lives is immeasurable. Thank you for your generosity, time, and effort in everything that you do everyday. You are truly Saints and we appreciate you joining us.

With that said — it’s time to ride!

Join us this Sunday morning at The Boardroom Cafe on 83rd & Aurora for the #BigHeartsAndBackpacks RIDE to Safe Place!

After getting properly caffeinated, we’ll depart for Everett at 9am and plan to return in time for the Seahawks vs. Chargers game at 1pm (go Hawks!).

Until next time,
—Soldiers of Destiny S.C.

#BigHeartsAndBackpacks 2!

#BigHeartsAndBackpacks 2!

Welcome to ‘Big Hearts & Backpacks’ – a benefit for Safe Place organized by the Soldiers of Destiny, a scooter club located in Seattle. For the second year in a row, we come together to aid and support Safe Place’s children program and we hope you will join our efforts to make this a benefit to remember!

Safe Place is a program run by Hand in Hand Kids in Everett, WA, who provide a secure place for kids in transition after being removed from their homes. Often times, these children arrive at Safe Place in the middle of the night with their belongings in a black garbage bag and not much else.

Our goal is to collect new, unused backpacks and fill them with school supplies, clothing, and toys to benefit the children at Safe Place. Then on the morning of September 14, 2014 we’ll strap the backpacks to us and ride our scooters to Everett to deliver the donation — and lots of hugs.

Here’s the summary of upcoming events where you can contribute, have tons of fun, and participate for a great cause:

— September 9, 2014 Beer Authority Fundraiser, 5:00 PM
Bring a new, unused children’s backpack or any children’s school supplies to The Beer Authority in Lake City (Google Maps Link) to benefit Safe Place! While you’re there, take advantage of exclusive beer specials, give some high fives, and go home with great raffle prizes! All proceeds to benefit Safe Place in Everett.

— September 10, 2014 Chuck’s Hop Shop Fundraiser, 5:00 PM

Hope to see you all there. Thank you for your support!
